Last night I was trying to find news articles for my assignments and I came across this recent article which is about marches of thousands of people in East Los Angeles who are against the proposition 8, a proposal on last week's election ballot to re-write the state's constitution to redefine marriage as the union of a man and a woman only.

You can find the article here http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7723645.stm

This is so inhuman to tie down humans by laws like marrying someone that the society disapproves is a crime. If you search for the word "marriage" in dictionary, its meaning of long-term relationship or union of two individuals is no longer limited to only people of different sex. You will find that marriage can exist or be defined between the individuals of same sex as well. Okies, now some of you may say same-sex marriages are just abnormal, queer or ungodly. On which ground you are standing? Isn't it all about your own personal preference? You are just making judgements and conclusions about what is right and wrong for other tailored to your very own beliefs and values.

Consequently, the extreme religious views contribute a lot to the disapproval of same-sex marriages. In codes of most religions, marriage is just meant for a male and a female and "same-sex marriage is sinful".

So, now, let us forget about the genders for a min.

Just imagine yourself born in a world where only homosexuals and same-sex marriage exist but you fell in love with someone of different sex. Would  you still say it is morally justifiable to ban people from marrying those whom they love just because majority does not feel it is a right thing to do so? Given the above instance, I'm sure most of us would say NO undoubtedly. That is why I hate the rules of majority that say you are wrong because you are different from them.
